Colonization of the East Indies and India
In the time between 18th century and the 20th century, South East Asia, like many other parts of the world at this time under foreign European control. The two main nations to control this area were the British who controlled India and the Dutch who controlled Indonesia. One can see how these two countries used vastly different methods to successfully hold a monopoly on trade and the people.
